Racepace at Helvellyn

Sunday 4th September - Helvellyn Triathlon

Brian Fogarty in his 1st year of racing Triathlon rocked up at Jenkins field, Glenridding, not knowing what to expect. Training had gone well and was confident that he had recovered from his Ironman exploits in Switzerland. Helvellyn, though shorter is not to be underestimated, a beautiful day was a massive bonus and one which was taken advantage of. Setting off in wave 2 (3 mins behing wave 1) Brian had a great swim and soon set off in pursuit of faster swimmers. A superbly controlled bike meant Brian was in good shape to tackle the small matter of the 9mile fell run. Pacing it spot on meant Brian came all the way through to 7th overall and 4th in his age-category from over 600 athlete's, a remarkable achievement considering he did his 1st race in May this year. Crossing the line in the new Racepace trisuit, Brian was obviously very happy with his performance and is already looking forward to another crack at it in 2012....well done Bri.
